What Happens When Items are Deleted

There are five basic object types in the Calendars for the Web system. They are:

Calendars
Events
Contacts
Users
User Groups

Each of these items behaves similarly when they are deleted.

Whenever one deletes an item from a database that item is not actually removed. Instead, the item is simply marked as having been deleted. In all subsequent operations deleted items are ignored.

In this way, the system gains a powerful, unique feature: un-deletion. Any time you delete a Calendar, Event, User or User Group you can always un-delete that object.

Deleted items are not completely removed from the database until they are removed.

Removing an item actually spins through the database and completely removes any items that are marked as deleted. Removal is an un-recoverable operation. After removal you may no longer un-delete deleted items.
